About Bases
Full Spectrum Dominance is a game that is meant to be Indie at its core. We encourage, at times celebrate, people that use models sourced from different brands and artists to represent their forces. Even more, we believe that people should build their miniature collections without having them bound to a single game system.
For these reasons, basing conventions for FSD are fairly loose, and distances are calculated from the base center to allow for different bases to work.
Guidelines
It’s important however to set limits to what constitute a base for the game, and we’ve been asked countless times for guidelines.
As a rule of thumb, the long side of a standard base (an Infantry base or a small or medium sized vehicle base) should be between half and a third of a DU.
Most of the models in the photos (6-8mm scale) are based on 24×36 mm rectangular bases and on 30 mm round bases, with larger models on 40 mm, 50 mm, and even 80 mm round bases.
